
Bernie Sanders has been outspoken about the primary role that big banks played in causing the mortgage crisis, and the need to break them up. Recently the political and media friends of these banks have responded by repeatedly broadcasting a Big Lie that they were not in fact responsible.
In her standard refreshingly plainspoken manner, Senator Elizabeth Warren has emphatically denounced these falsehoods:
There would have been no crisis without these giant banks. They encouraged reckless mortgage lending both by gobbling up an endless stream of mortgages to securitize and by funding the slimy subprime lenders who peddled their miserable products to millions of American families.
